How it works

At the times you set, the ring around the screen glows green. Your child presses the big orange Go button, and Klaar says every step out loud, with a picture: four 30-second brushing zones, or wet, soap, a 20-second scrub counted out loud, rinse and dry. Brushing ends with four gold stars and "Grown-up, take a look!" Hands end with "Clean hands!"

Made for ages 2 to 7

Pictures first, very few words, one big button. Pick an age mode for each child: Little shows one big picture at a time while you show the step; Middle adds the insides and chewing tops; Big adds the zone name and a bar that fills as the two minutes go by.

One unit for the whole family

Up to four kids share one Klaar. Each gets a profile with their name, picture, age mode and hand tone. Grown-up settings sit behind a 4-digit PIN.

Size, power and care

5 × 4.3 × 3.6 in (128 × 110 × 92 mm), about the size of a grapefruit. It stands on the counter within 5 ft of an outlet. A [UL-listed] USB-C adapter and a 5 ft magnetic cable designed to let go if pulled. Run it out of children's reach with the 3 adhesive clips in the box. No batteries. Designed to IPX4 splash resistance (lab test pending). Keep it on the counter, away from running water, and wipe it clean with a damp cloth.

Privacy

No camera, no app and no account. [It works without Wi-Fi.] There's a microphone for your recorded hello and cheers. [It only gets power while you record, with a red light on.] [Names, recordings and the week's ticks stay on Klaar.] A small distance sensor wakes the screen when someone stands at the sink; it measures distance only, with no images.

You've Been the Narrator.

7:42 pm. Pajamas on. The sand timer's running, and you're saying it again: "Top teeth. Now the back. Don't forget the insides." Then the same speech the next morning.

The timer counts. The song entertains. The chart rewards. The steps in the middle are still yours, twice a day. Klaar takes over the narrating. Not the parenting.

  • The steps, said out loud.

Four 30-second zones with a picture for each. From age 3, the insides and chewing tops too.

  • Hands, counted.

Wet, soap, a 20-second scrub counted out loud, rinse and dry, one picture at a time.

  • You get to cheer.

Brushing ends with four gold stars, then "Grown-up, take a look!" That's your cue for the high-five.

Press Go. Watch a Routine.

This is what your child sees at the sink. It runs fast here: brushing takes the full two minutes, and hands under a minute.

Pre-production render, with Klaar's real screens.
  • Green time to go, and done
  • Soft white while it runs
  • Amber a dim glow at night
  • Never red or flashing

Shown sped up. [With Klaar's own voice, once the sound file is final.]

  1. The light turns green

At the times you set, the ring around the screen glows green. [The reminder comes from the counter, not from you.]

  2. They press Go

One press of the big orange button wakes Klaar: your hello, if you’ve recorded one, then “Grown-up: a pea of paste.” When the paste is on, they press Go again.

  3. Klaar says every step

Four 30-second zones: top teeth, the other side, bottom teeth, the last side, with the insides and chewing tops in each from age 3. The light turns soft white while it runs.

  4. You cheer

Four gold stars, and “Grown-up, take a look!”

Read every word of a brushing routine (ages 3 to 5)
  1. Your recorded hello: “Hi, Maya!” · “Teeth time!” · “Grown-up: a pea of paste.” · “When the paste is on, press Go.”
  2. 0:00 “Top teeth first. Small circles.” · 0:10 “Now the insides.” · 0:20 “Now the chewing tops.”
  3. 0:30 “Top teeth, other side.” · 0:40 “Insides too.” · 0:50 “Chewing tops.”
  4. 1:00 “Halfway! Bottom teeth now.” · 1:04 “Open wide like a lion. Roar!” · 1:10 “Now the insides.” · 1:20 “Chewing tops.”
  5. 1:30 “Last side. Bottom teeth.” · 1:40 “Insides.” · 1:50 “Chewing tops. Almost done!”
  6. 2:00 “Spit it out.” · 2:02 “Leave the rest on your teeth.” · 2:05 “Four sides, all done!” · 2:08 “Grown-up, take a look!”

[Script check: lines and times from the Pages v2 page; swap in the locked firmware script before this runs. Little mode uses fewer words; Big mode a few more.]

Counting Isn't Coaching.

  • The sand timer: a clear end. Nothing in between.
  • The light-up brush: lights up. Doesn't say where.
  • The brushing song: they love it. The steps are still yours.
  • The app: cute characters, on your phone, at a wet sink.
  • The sticker chart: works as long as you run it.

The timer counts. Klaar says the steps.

Why Klaar is built this way

  • The cue comes from the counter

A green light at the same sink, at the same times. [Habits stick to a daily cue.]

  • The button is theirs

One press of Go, with their name on the band. [They start it themselves.]

  • The same steps, said the same way, every time

Whoever does bedtime: you, your partner or Grandma.

  • The whole two minutes

Klaar paces the full two minutes, in four 30-second zones. [In one study of home brushing, parents reported their brushing time differently from what researchers saw: 22% said over two minutes, and 2% brushed that long.]

Made for Kids Aged 2 to 7. One Klaar for Up to Four.

The Little mode screen: one big picture of the part of the mouth to brushPre-production render

Pictures first, very few words, and one big button to press. Each child gets their own age mode, so a 2-year-old and a 6-year-old can share one Klaar. Hand-washing pictures come in four skin tones[, and now and then four little goldfish swim past instead of the stars].

Four kids on one Klaar, each with a row of ticksPre-production render

The screen shows whose turn it is. Record a hello and a few cheers for each child, and see the week at a glance: a row of ticks, never a score.

At night the light dims to a soft amber glow by the sinkPre-production render

[Nothing about your child leaves Klaar.] No camera, no app and no account. The screen shows one picture per step, then goes back to the clock. After bedtime the light dims to a soft amber glow, so a sleepy trip to the sink is never pitch dark.

How the First Weeks Go, and What You Do.

  • Night one.

You set the times and a profile for each child on Klaar, and record your hello if you want to. When the light turns green, they press Go. You stand beside them and help. For under-3s, you show each step while Klaar names it.

  • [Week one.] [They know the order by heart.]

  • Every night after.

The same light, the same words, the same order, whoever does bedtime.

What Klaar isn't. It isn't a toothbrush: use yours, manual or electric. It isn't a babysitter: you stay close. It isn't a tablet: no videos, games or music. It doesn't check their teeth: you take a look at the end.

A good fit if you're the one saying "now the insides" every night, you have two or more kids at one sink, you want hand-washing called out step by step too, or you don't want another app.

Probably not for you if your child is under 2, or 8 and brushing well alone, or you want something that brushes for them.

We Want You to Ask Questions.

Pre-order and shipping

When will my pre-order ship?

In December 2027. We email you tracking when yours is on its way. If our date changes, we email you before the old date passes, and you choose: wait, or cancel for a full refund.

[Why is it 40% off right now?]

[Families who pre-order get Klaar for $99. After launch on [date], it's $165.]

When am I charged?

At checkout, when you place your pre-order. [Or in 4 payments of $24.75 with Shop Pay.]

Can I cancel my pre-order?

Yes. Email us any time before it ships, and we cancel it for a full refund.

Will it arrive before the holidays?

No. Klaar ships in December 2027, so it won't be here for this year's holidays, and we can't promise yet that it arrives before the 2027 holidays. [Pre-orders include a "Klaar is coming" card to print and wrap.]

Can I give it as a gift?

Yes. Type their name at checkout, and we print it on the band. It ships in December 2027. [A gift note, and no prices on the packing slip.]

[Can I change the name after I order?]

[Yes, until [date]: reply to your order email.]

What if it doesn't work for us?

Try it for 90 nights after it arrives. If it isn't working at your sink, send it back. Return shipping is on us, and you get a full refund, even with their name printed on the band.

Using it

Do I still need to help?

Yes. "Children usually need help with brushing until they are 8 years old" (American Academy of Pediatrics). Klaar says the steps and keeps the time. You stay close, help, and take a look at the end.

My child doesn't fight brushing. Is Klaar for us?

If you're still the one saying "now the insides", yes. Klaar is for the steps, fight or no fight.

Does it need Wi-Fi, an app or an account?

No app, no account, no subscription. [It works without Wi-Fi.] You set everything up on Klaar itself, behind a 4-digit PIN. Updates download from our website and load over the cable, using Chrome or Edge on a computer.

How many kids can use it?

Up to four, taking turns. Each child gets a profile with their name, picture, age mode and hand tone, and the screen shows whose turn it is.

What ages is it for?

2 to 7. Little mode for under-3s, Middle for 3 to 5, Big for 6 and 7.

Can they hear it over the tap?

There are five volume levels and quiet hours, and the lines are short, almost all six words or fewer. [Tested over a running tap at every level.]

Can it get wet?

It's designed to IPX4 splash resistance (lab test pending). [Splash-tested to IPX4.] Keep it on the counter, away from running water, and never hold it under the tap.

Does it add screen time?

A little: one picture per step while a routine runs (two minutes for teeth, under a minute for hands), then a clock. No videos, games or music.

Does it have a camera or a microphone?

No camera. There's a microphone so you can record a hello and a few cheers. [It only gets power while you record, with a red light on.]

Does it work with any toothbrush?

Yes, manual or electric. Toothbrush and toothpaste aren't included.

What does Klaar mean?

It's Dutch for ready, and for done: the two things the light tells your child. Say it like "klar", to rhyme with car.
