How it works

When it’s time for teeth or hands, the light around the screen breathes green. Your child presses the big orange Go button and the guide voice coaches every step: four 30-second brushing zones, or wet, soap, a counted 20-second scrub, rinse and dry. Then four gold stars, and the guide asks a grown-up to come and look.

Made for ages 2 to 7

Pictures first, very few words, and one big button. You pick an age mode for each child: Little shows one big picture at a time, Middle adds what to brush next, Big adds the zone name and a bar that fills as the two minutes go by.

One unit for the whole family

Up to four kids share one Klaar. Each gets a profile with their name, picture, age mode and hand tone. Grown-up settings sit behind a 4-digit PIN.

Size, power and care
  • 5 Ă— 4.3 Ă— 3.6 in (128 Ă— 110 Ă— 92 mm), about as big as a grapefruit. It sits on the counter.
  • UL-listed USB-C adapter and a 5 ft magnetic cable. No batteries to change.
  • Splash-tested to IPX4. Keep it on the counter, away from running water.
  • Wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth.
Privacy

No camera, no Wi-Fi, no app and no account. Names, recordings and the week’s history stay on the unit. The microphone only gets power while you record a hello, and a red light shows when it’s on.

Pre-orders ship in December. If our date changes, we’ll email you the new one before the old one passes, and you choose: wait, or cancel for a full refund.

What's in the box

  • Klaar, with their name printed on the band
  • UL-listed USB-C power adapter
  • 5 ft magnetic cable
  • 3 adhesive cable clips
  • 2 wipe-clean picture cards for the mirror, one for teeth and one for hands
  • First-week guide to get everyone started
  • Quick start and safety leaflet

More than a reminder…

Most fixes for the brushing fight still need a grown-up to start them. Sticker charts, songs and phone apps all leave you doing the reminding. Klaar puts the reminder at the sink, coaches the whole routine, and hands the cheering back to you.

  • A full two minutes

Four 30-second zones with a picture for each, so every tooth gets its turn, every time.

  • Clean hands, counted

Wet, soap, a 20-second scrub counted out loud, rinse and dry: the CDC’s steps, one picture at a time.

  • You get to cheer

Four gold stars, then the guide asks a grown-up to come and look. That’s your cue for the high-five.

Press Go. Watch a routine.

This is what your child sees at the sink. It runs fast here: brushing really takes the full two minutes, and hand-washing about one.

The unit's real screens, on a photo of it.
  • Green time to go, and done
  • Soft white while it runs
  • Amber a dim glow at night
  • Never red or flashing

Shown sped up, without the guide's voice.

  1. The light turns green

At the times you set, the light around the screen glows green. The reminder comes from the counter, not from you.

  2. They press Go

One press of the big orange button starts it. The guide wakes up and says hello.

  3. The guide coaches every zone

Four 30-second zones: top left, top right, bottom right, bottom left. Outsides, insides and chewing tops in each one. The light turns soft white while it runs.

  4. You cheer

Four gold stars, and the guide says, “Grown-up, take a look!” That's your cue for the high-five.

The Little mode screen: one big picture of the part of the mouth to brush

Made for kids aged 2 to 7

Pictures first, very few words, and one big button to press. Each child gets their own age mode, so a 2-year-old and a 6-year-old can share one unit.

Hand-washing pictures come in four skin tones, and now and then four little goldfish swim past instead of the stars.

Four kids on one unit, each with a row of today’s ticks

One unit for the whole family

Up to four kids share one Klaar, each with their own name, picture and settings. Their picture shows whose turn it is.

Record a hello and a few cheers for each child, and see the week at a glance. It shows when the guide ran, never a score.

At night the light dims to a soft amber glow by the sink

Nothing about your child leaves the unit

No camera, no Wi-Fi, no app and no account. The screen shows one picture per step, then goes back to the clock.

After bedtime the light dims to a soft amber glow, so a sleepy trip to the sink is never pitch dark.

Why Klaar works

  • The cue comes from the counter

Habits stick to a daily cue. A green light at the same sink, at the same times, does the asking, so it never has to be you.

  • They start it themselves

One press of the big orange button starts the routine. The button is theirs, with their name on the band.

  • The whole routine, every time

Parents tend to overestimate brushing time. The guide runs the full two minutes and the counted scrub, so nothing gets rushed.

We want you to ask questions!

Seriously. Here are the ones parents ask us most.

Pre-order and shipping

When will my pre-order ship?

Pre-orders ship in December. We’ll email you with tracking when yours is on its way.

If our date changes, we’ll email you the new date before the old one passes. You choose: wait, or cancel for a full refund.

Why is it 40% off right now?

Families who pre-order get Klaar for $99. After launch it goes to its regular price of $165.

When am I charged?

[Say when the card is charged: at checkout, or when the order ships.]

Can I cancel my pre-order?

[Yes. Email us any time before it ships and we’ll cancel it for a full refund.]

Will it arrive before the holidays?

[Answer this straight: the date range you can back, and whether that clears the carriers’ holiday cutoffs. If it may not, say so.]

Can I give it as a gift?

[Say how gifts work: a gift note, no prices on the packing slip, and whether you send a printable card to wrap while it’s on its way.]

Can I change the name after I order?

[Say until when the name can be changed, and how: for example, reply to your order email before it ships.]

What if it doesn’t work for us?

[Say what your trial or return policy is, including for a band with a name on it, and who pays return shipping.]

Using it

Does it need Wi-Fi, an app or an account?

No. You set everything up on the unit itself, behind a 4-digit PIN. Updates download from our website and load over the cable, using Chrome or Edge on a computer.

How many kids can use it?

Up to four. Each child gets a profile with their name, picture, age mode and hand tone. Their picture shows whose turn it is.

What ages is it for?

Kids aged 2 to 7. You pick an age mode for each child, so the pictures suit them. The ADA advises that an adult helps with or supervises young children’s brushing, so stay close while they use it.

Can it get wet?

It’s splash-tested to IPX4, so splashes from the sink are fine. Keep it on the counter, away from running water, and never hold it under the faucet.

Does it add screen time?

The screen only shows the picture for each step while a routine runs: two minutes for teeth, about a minute for hands. There are no videos, games or music.

Does it have a camera or a microphone?

There’s no camera. There is a microphone, so you can record a hello and a few cheers for each child. It only gets power while you’re recording, and a red light shows when it’s on.

Does it work with any toothbrush?

Yes, manual or electric. Toothbrush and toothpaste aren’t included.

What does Klaar mean?

It’s Dutch for ready, and for done: the two things the light tells your child. Say it like “klar”, to rhyme with car.
